Docs Viewer and Editor are web-similar and very unuseful. There is no zooming for simple documents, only for sheets and images. Then I can't see docs in offline mode, only list of them. What is cache setting for? Offline viewing end editing is soo important.
But I like the trend.

No better than trying to edit them with the browser, get the same screen. Click edit, it loads the document, but no ability to edit. Same options at the bottom like on the webpage, mobile or desktop. Desktop will end up not loading. Does this app actually work for anyone?

Market says it won't install on my CM7-running Nook Color. All I can figure is that it's flagged as requiring a camera.

Adam, it does work for me.
Google, one thing though, will we get to delete documents from the app itself? Can't seem to...

Been waiting for a google docs app for so long. This is a big disappointment. The initial interface shows potential. But editing still uses the horrible web interface.

So far, OCR doesn't seem to work for me :-(

I do love google docs, and google in general. But as has been said before, this is a step in the right direction, but its a very small step. Its still cumbersom to edit google docs on a phone.

Not compatible with the Motorola Spice (XT300)? Why?
I've been waiting for this since I got my phone! :(

This is going to be pretty exciting stuff going forward. Being able to crop and zoom areas for OCR parsing would be one of the first things I would like to be able to do with it.
Also, "training" the conversion system so it can use corrections from all users to determine ambiguous characters on the document. If Google docs can, after initial scanning, try and auto-correct the converted text, it could actually teach itself after the user "confirms" suggested changes.... Nice work guys..

PLEASE GOOGLE, I have been waiting so long for a Google Docs app and all we get is a shiny cover to the same web interface. I have a Nexus One AND a Motorola XOOM and productivity suite is the only thing missing. I would happily pay for a good official app from you. But not this. So disappointed.

The OCR worked just fine for me on my Droid X - I took a pic of a business card and it displays the photo on the GDoc plus the transcription -- pretty sweet!

Unsuccessful trying to create document from photo using Motorola DROID2. Pressing menu item under create new does not launch camera. After failed attempt, camera will not launch normally. Must reboot phone to use camera. A Docs bug or my DROID problem?

Agreeing w/earlier posting. Big step in right direction...but.
Compatibility issues w/google apps? It automatically showed me my existing document collections at install but when opening documents - will only open "complete action using" - browser. If I choose docs to open - just loops & never opens. Also notice a new synchronize option for google docs that is not selected by default.

Isn't it a little optimistic to call a glorified link to google docs mobile an "android app". Honestly expected better from google. You have the beta label on much better products than this, you thought this was a final product?
Oh, also, image upload/ocr doesn't work. Didn't bother trying further when I realized it's just a browser ui wrapper. Look forward to a NATIVE google Android app.
I hope you learn your lesson and keep the interns and vba coders out of the programmers lab.

Late arrival but good start. Cheers for the OCR option. Not having offline mode is a big disadvantage for me. I am hopeful this will come in soon as most users are requesting it.

Editing on a smartphone isn't perfect, but I printed docs and photos with my phone today - from the back yard. Credit to the devs who brought it this far. Thanks!!
Issue seen: Uploading a pic to docs required conversion that puts a blank page 1, pic on page 2 and "fr" on 3.It's still awesome! Evo <> Docs <> Cloud Print <> HP ePrint (docs to device plus device app pull from docs)

Replying to Dave with the Droid 2 camera problem.
I am having the same problem with my Droid 2. I navigate the menu to create doc from photo and the camera never turns on. After this I can't open the camera again until I reboot the phone. Seems to be an issue with the phone model. Hope they fix it soon.

Going in the right direction, but I would really love to be able to work in offline mode. Being able to see my to do list without an internet connection would be just great.
