Polaroid X720E waterproof camcorder hands-on

The Polaroid X720E is the brand's first waterproof camcorder and we managed to get up close and personal for some hands-on time with the new product.
The compact gadget is waterproof up to 3m so it should survive unscathed if you're planning to use it next to (or in) the pool while on holiday. The X720E can capture full HD, 1280x720p (up to 30fps) and features a USB port for easy transfer of files, along with an HDMI for hooking up to an HD-capable TV.
Along with a 2-inch LCD screen, the camcorder sports a 3x digital zoom and and includes a Micro SD card slot that can support cards up to 16GB.
The product can also take still photos and comes with editing software to make it as easy as possible to upload, edit and share video and pictures.
We found the X720E to be a little bulkier than many other pocket camcorders and certainly slightly bigger than other waterproof models that we've seen. However, that's no bad thing, as the smaller the products, the easier it seems to be to drop them while in the water.
Along with grippy rubber sections, the X720E also has an asymmetrical design that fits neatly in the hand and makes it easier to keep a tighter hold. There's also a section at the bottom that can be attached to a wrist strap or lanyard, so that if you do drop the device it won't stray too far. The slightly bigger chassis also means that the screen and the buttons are a decent size, making it easier to line up shots and start recording without too much trouble.
The Polaroid X720E will be available in October with a price tag of £69.99.
