The tablet market is already crowded, but it appears like more companies will also be jumping in on the action. This time it’s Lenovo, which has announced its plans to launch its LePad tablet.
As you might remember, the company had first shown off the tablet at CES in January 2010. Later in June of the same year, Lenovo had announced that the tablet will be known by the above said name.
Now, the company has confirmed that the tablet will be released onto the Chinese market in the month of March before getting launched on the global markets in June.
But it is not known to which countries the device is headed first, although we already knew it was coming to the US this year.
The pricing details and final specs are also not available at the moment. Back in January, the LePad was seen running the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system with a custom “LeOS” skin.
The device also had a 1.3GHz Snapdragon processor, a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800, and a price tag just north of $500. It is not known whether the company will stick on to the LeOS skin or launch the device with Honeycomb on board.
