Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. and Suzuki Motor Corporation have co-developed Electric Drive System featuring a high performance in-wheel motor in addition to high efficiency control circuit which was developed by Sanyo. In addition to this Sanyo developed a dedicated charger and a battery system for the electric motors using Sanyo’s Li-Ion batteries which company developed for consumer equipment. The system comes with capability of communication between each unit through the CAN (Control Area Network), a standard for in-vehicle LAN. Sanyo has implemented the system into Suzuki’s newly announced Scooters.
