Can Samsung Steal Apple’s Notebook Crown?

Electronics giant Samsung has decided to alter it’s iTarget and take aim at Apple’s very successful notebook business following a mighty successful 2010…

They intend to do this via the 9 Series, the wafer-thin laptop unveiled at the 2011 CES event that apparently has dimensions that kick the MacBook Air into touch. Including all of the hardware you would expect on such a narrow device, the 9 Series also challenges the MacBook Air in system specs, with the new Core i5 2537M processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD storage fulfilling the $1800 price tag.
Things are certainly stacking up against Apple in 2011, with Steve Jobs taking sick leave, a raft of tablet devices to challenge the iPad and Android potentially stealing the iPhone’s crown as the most popular smartphone. With the 9 Series weighing in at 2.89 pounds to the MacBook Air’s 2.9 pounds, could a matter of ounces make or break Apple’s year?
Samsung are in prime position in 2011, however – in 2010 they were outsold in the notebook market by just 150,000 devices.
So with a MacBook Air boasting Mac OS X or a Samsung 9 Series sporting Windows 7, which one are you going to choose?
