The HTC Rhyme

The HTC Rhyme is something of a delicate matter, as it is HTC's firstphone that is said to have been designed with a female audience in mind. Yet it comes in dull colours and looks quite a lot like every other HTC handset we’ve seen so far.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 To Be Available For iPhone This November

Bid a fond farewell to the days when “playing Bad Company” on an iPod only meant listening to old white guys singing about how they feel like makin’ love.
SoftSailor brings word that Electronic Arts has Unveiled an especially bite-sized take on its biggest war shooter, which it’s stuffed to the brim with 14 missions and online multiplayer. And who doesn’t like shooting little people? Wait, that came out wrong.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 will be available for the iPod Touch and iPhone this November 2010.

Verizon CDMA iPhone 5G Release Date Is January 2011, Says Report

The Verizon iPhone rumors have reached the next level as the WSJ reports that Apple is working on a special CDMA iPhone only for the Big Red. The WSJ says that it’s not just an iPhone 4 with a CDMA chip, it’s a special Verizon version which features a Qualcomm chipset and there are no indications that it will support LTE.
The last part is kinda sad considering the fact that the Verizon CDMA iPhone release date is early 2011, just like the release of the 4G network. Anyway the CDMA iPhone will be manufactured by Pegatron and like said it won’t be a dual-mode device (no world iPhone for you mister), and yes, it will be considered the 5th generation iPhone.
The sources also claim that Verizon is working closely with Apple to test the CDMA iPhone and the Big Red’s network as well so that the users won’t encounter any traffic congestion problems.  So what do you think? Will Apple and Verizon introduce the CDMA iPhone by the end of the year and then release it in early 2011?

Palm ‘P102UEU’ A.K.A. The European Pre 2 Asks FCC Permission To Hit U.S. Grounds

.It seems that Palm won’t give up after all, because a statement was just made public where a P102 model is requesting FCC certification. We are surprised as you are, believe me, and it’s clear that we will see the device in the U.S. real soon. The great news is that this P102UEU model has just been approved.
Find out that P102 is actually the rumored Pre 2, and UEU means that it is a UMTS 3G handset specially built for the EU. Let me remind you that the P102UNA and P102EWW were spotted in TÃœV Rheinland’s database just a wile ago.
Now read this and be amazed because the slider was tested in both open and closed sources, and it features a 1150mAh battery ( the same as the Pre / Pre Plus ), and it’s compatible with the Touchstone of course. The processor is rumored to be at 1GHz, but we may see TI’s OMAP3600 series

Super Hi-Vision Technology Captures Video 16x Times Better Than 1080p0

The BBC and NHK realized a live trial broadcast of the band The Charlatans from the U.K. to Tokyo with Super Hi-Vision. Yes you’re eyes not fooling you, it’s Super Hi-Vision.
This high tech was developed by the broadcaster NHK and is capable of displaying an astonishing 7,680 x 4,320 pixels, offering 16 times the pixels over what is currently considered full HD at 1080p.
As it has not been done before, the Super Hi-Vision broadcast was transmitted at 24Gb/s over a high-speed Internet connection
Unfortunately, at least for now you won’t find on the current market a TV that can support such a high resolution, and you also need a very high speed Internet connection. The Japanese public broadcaster hopes to launch Super Hi-Vision by the Olympics being held in 2012.

Eco Lusial Iconic Stadium May Enhance Qatar’s Chances To Host World Cup In 2022

The beautiful city of Qatar is hoping to host the World Cup in 2022, and they got an ace up they’re sleeves, because they allied with Foster + Partners to build an astonishing energy-efficient world-class football stadium.
This project is called the Lusial Iconic Stadium and it will be built to seat over 86,000 spectators. The construction will begin in the capital city of Doha, and it will be adapted for the extreme summer conditions. The canopies surrounding the stadium will generate solar power.
We think that this stadium will enhance Qatar’s chances to win the bid and host the World Cup in 2022, and the problem is that they have serious competition including Australia, South Korea, the United States, England, Japan, Russia, Spain and Portugal, and Belgium and The Netherlands.
Lusial Iconic Stadium will have a saddle-shaped roof that will create the illusion that it floats above the concrete bowl featuring a retractable canopy that can open or close by a push of a button. The project will include access roads and a new metro line to ensure that anyone can quickly get to it.

Bungie Almost Confirms MMO Project For Next Year

The creative director Joe Staten announced at the Game Developers and Gamasutra that Bungie’s next project could feature a world that was always there for you. The question is Bungie will feature a shooter MMO? The director hinted around about Bungie’s next project and teased what it could be an answer to a question posed.
Another important person, Kotaku contributing columnist and Gamasutra news editor Leigh Alexander was in the audience this morning when Joseph Staten said that ‘Writing the Whirlwind: 10 Years on the Frontlines Of HALO Storytelling and Beyond’, at GDC Online in Austin, Texas. Staten also answered questions, one of which reminded of the new project Bungie.
Unfortunately, his only response was: “Wouldn’t it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you? Wow. That would be great.” We all hope that something concrete will be announced real soon.

Motorola Droid 2 Global Edition Specs Leaked: 1.2GHz Processor Confirmed

I remember that several months ago Motorola’s CEO Sanjay Jha said that his company will release 1.2GHz smartphones by the end of 2010. This year is almost coming to an end and so far we haven’t seen any 1.2GHz Motorola devices, but this thing will go away soon as the Droid 2 World Edition has made a brief cameo at Moto’s website and guess what? It said it features a 1.2GHz processor!
These unlucky teasers have happened before and they’ll certainly happen in the future and we’re lucky to know that the Motorola Droid 2 Global Edition will come packed with a quad-band antenna, Android 2.2, a redesigned QWERTY keybord, and an improved touchscreen for better accuracy.

The QWERTY keyboard on the original Droid sucked, however, the one on the Droid 2 and Droid 2 R2-D2 is simply great therefore I can’t imagine how great it will be the one on the Droid 2 World Edition.

Garmin-Asus To Release Windows Phone 7 Device In 20110

Garmin-Asus hopes to launch 1 or 2 Android-based handsets on the Taiwan market before the end of 2010. Their main purpose is to accomplish the same success as with the launch of A10 in September. NASA Will Send ARES Ultrafast Robot-Plane To Mars

Until now, the only things that NASA has sent to the surface of Mars, were slow-moving rovers and stationery landers. But the great news is that they have another plan: a robotic plane, that is powered by a rocket, will soar a mile over the Martian landscape at 450 miles per hour, so they can see hundreds of miles of unexplored Mars ground.
Unfortunately, the robot will be able to fly just 2 ours, unlike NASA’s Spirit and Opportunity rovers, who were supposed to work for a couple of months, but have lasted six years. This new robotic plane it’s called the ARES ( Aerial Regional-Scale Environmental Surveyor ), and within the 2 ours of surveillance, it has to cover 1,000 miles of Mars, casing the atmosphere, searching for water and trying to get a feel for the planet’s crustal magnetism.
As you may probably think, this project is kinda of expensive, and landing a plane there, it might be a very difficult task to fulfill, but it seems that NASA had already figured it out. ARES will be detached from a carrier ship about 12 hours from the Martian planet.

Halo Intersceptor Car Concept Can Morph Into A Boat, Helicopter, And A Jet

The Halo Intersceptor is an astonishing project consisting in a 311-mile-per-hour concept car that can transform into a jet, a helicopter, or a boat. This awesome concept comes from U.K. concept designer Philip Pauley and it makes Batman’s car look like an Olds Mobile.
So we got a base component, the car cockpit ( the Intersceptor ), which is a four seater ‘USB stick’ that is designed to be greater that any other private vehicle on earth. It can achieve 2.3 seconds from 0 to 60 and has a range of 700 miles. From this point you can attach, by your desire, one of three Halo attachments.
The Halo 120 will transform this vehicle into a private jet that can climb 25,890 feet a minute and has the martial good looks of a Tomcat. On the other side, the Halo 46 is a helicopter that can carry two pilots and two passengers. Last, but not least, the Halo 22 is a 36-foot-long boat with an engine you can throttle up to 63 knots. Unfortunately, the Halo Intersceptor won’t be available at the auto dealers any time soon, and there are no details on how you attach all the parts.

Dublin’s Convention Center Is The First Carbon-Free Building Of Its Kind

The opening of the Convention Center Dublin has just revealed the first carbon neutral conference center in the world. This immense complex consists of a large performance hall, exhibition hall, multiple meeting rooms and a spectacular atrium overlook the river.
The CCD can host up to 8000 people and uses some complicated integrated systems to lower its energy consumption. They even encourage visitors to lower their carbon footprint as well. The interesting fact is that the architects at KRJDA took the decision to build the center’s program vertically, rather than following the standard horizontal footprint of many similar buildings.
Durability was a key design strategy as well, as the building has a 100-year design life. A key decision was to use 6,000 tons of low-carbon concrete in construction, which significantly reduced the building’s carbon footprint, but the real story is in the building’s low energy use.

Nintendo CEO Points Out The Obvious: The 3DS Battery Will Last Shorter

Nintendo’s CEO has decided to confirm what we already knew once again: the Nintendo 3DS will have a shorter battery life than the company’s Nintendo DS. Whoa! Does Nintendo think we’re stupid or something?
Of course the Nintendo 3DS’ battery will won’t last as long as the DS’ battery given the fact that it will have the WiFi connection turned on all the time in order to automatically update itself and to search for other 3DS users thanks to that cool tag mode. And should we mention the processor of the 3DS? And the screen which doesn’t require any 3D glasses for you?
Anyway this information has been found in a Q&A session with Nintendo’s CEO Satoru Iwata, and the best thing about it, is that you can read it right here. That is… if you have enough time cause it’s going to be a very long read.

More Medal of Honor Gameplay Videos and Multiplayer Details Get Published As The Release Date Approaches

With a few days left until the game hits the shelves, more and more Medal of Honor gameplay videos are getting released, as well as more details about the controversial multiplayer side of the game.
With DICE handling the multiplayer part, it’s probably safe to say that Medal of Honor will be a big hit, both with long time fans of the franchise and veteran Battlefield players.
When engaging in Medal of Honor’s multiplayer, players will be able to choose from 4 game-modes, two opposing sides (Coalition vs. Opposing Forces), and three specialization classes (Rifleman, Special Ops, and Sniper).
The four Medal of Honor multiplayer game-modes are as follows:
  • Team Assault – Pretty much your standard Team Deathmatch.
  • Combat Mission – A game-mode in which one side has to accomplish a series of successive objectives, while the other team must stop the enemy’s advancement.
  • Sector Control – The teams fight to secure and maintain objectives for points.
  • Objective Raid – The objective is for one side to blow up specific checkpoints, while the others must defend them.
For more info on the game’s multiplayer (how Medal of Honor and Bad Company 2 are totally different experiences, the player level upgrade system etc.) and some nice Medal of Honor gameplay sequences, check out GamePro’s interview with Patrick Liu, Multiplayer Producer at DICE.

Amazon Application For Android: Android Amazon Tablet Next ?

One small step for man one big leap for human kind. This is the expression for Amazon’s new product. For several time we admired the passion this company is putting into evolving. This time is another application for Android OS handsets.
The guys from WSJ claim to have a proof within an Amazon document that explains some of the terms to the developers. If you wait for a release date you will have to wait a little more. The unnamed store is still at a project step and at the moment Amazon officials are discussing different terms with the developers.
There is a little problem it appears. Amazon has a stranger requirement and is asking that the application won’t be offered to everyone else for more than two weeks before it’s given to them.
Well nothing to say for now and without further leaks we are just guessing. There is one question that comes to mind: could this be the 1st hints to an Android tablet offered by Amazon?

Sony Ericsson X8 Smartphone 600 MHz Android 1.6 Launches At $300

When you see companies like Apple and Motorola (this are just some examples that came into my mind) evolving and investing time and money into new technologies it’s hard to understand the strategy others are thinking. This time we are talking about Sony Ericsson.
Everyone that has a decent smartphone and loves these gadgets will have probably installed on it Android 2.x. Then why would you launch an Android 1.6 base handset? Maybe there are places in third world countries where they didn’t heard about the better upgrade that is out there.
The best part of the product we think is the price: only $300. It will have a 3-inch screen, the processor will have 600 MHz and at the back of it a 3.2 camera with fixed focus. The name of the product is X8 and Sony officials say it will get the 2.1 Android update after the X10 product.
Why won’t you just launch it with the upgrade beats us.

Microsoft Investing In Software Layer For Windows 7 Base Tablets

Well you have to love Windows 7 from Microsoft and its developing into the tablet sector. But the producers are having a little trouble adjusting the OS to strictly finger input. The solution so far was simple for Microsoft: let people who develop on the platform create their one interface. For this remember HP with TouchSmart.
Things are changing it appears and they intend to create their own layer. It could be based on the Media Center feature. Some declaration apparently sounded like this: “what you’ll see over the course of the next year is us doing more and more work with our hardware partners creating hardware-software optimizations with Windows 7 and with Windows 7 Media Center [...].”.
It better happen before Windows 8 is out in 2012.
For now there is indication the Microsoft is optimizing its product for slates. The next big date in the producer’s agenda is October 11 where we could see an official Microsoft slate announcement. Keep your fingers crossed.

Rumor: Sprint $399 Samsung Galaxy Tab Launch November 14

If the rumors are right we could see a Samsung Galaxy Tab very soon from Sprint. What does soon mean?
Well stories are going that on November 14 the official announcement would be made. Enough with the launch date and let’s focus a little on the prices. The Android 7-inch tablet will be on sale at $599 for those of you who don’t want an agreement with the carrier.
If you are Sprint fan and wish for a 2 year agreement you will purchase the device at $399.
For now the multi tasking tablet is making big waves and people are crowding to put their hand on it. With the industry progressing so much we are getting closer to a slate that will try to replace computers.
But keep in mind what Henry Ford said once: “If I listened to what my customers wanted we would be building faster horses and not cars.” This is an idea that makes you wonder a little.

AOL To Launch Groupon Competitor

Wow will join the growing list of daily deal, comparison shopping, and coupon sites trying to grab a piece of the discount e-commerce pie.
just in time for the holiday shopping season, AOL is expected to soon launch a new deal-of-the-day shopping site.
While pursuing the market share of competitor Groupon, the upcoming debut of daily deal shopping site Wow.com may have unleashed the wrath of millions of World of Warcraft gamers around the globe. Gamers who unwittingly visit www.wow.com are redirected to www.wow.joystiq.com.

AOL -- which bought the wow.com domain from World of Warcraft news site WoW Insider in 1998, according to published reports -- will offer savings on dining, shopping, and outings at both local and national locations, according to the website. No launch date, beyond "soon," was announced.
"If you want a deal, we listen and offer up your bargain-of-choice on a silver platter at an astronomically discounted price, helping you stretch your hard-earned dollar to infinity and beyond," AOL said.

In addition to marketing to consumers, AOL currently is seeking partnerships with sponsors. There are no up-front costs associated with Wow, according to the website. Instead, it is a revenue-sharing agreement, said AOL.
"We provide an easy, risk-free opportunity to reach AOL users. Putting your business on the map is easy with Wow: AOL has a significantly greater audience reach than other online coupon sites. Between email and AOL homepage exposure, you'll have tremendous publicity and the opportunity to showcase your business to a large audience that is ready to sample your offer and come back for more," AOL said.
AOL will go head-to-head against Groupon, which has said it expects to do more than $100 million in gross merchandise sales this year, and Woot, which was acquired by Amazon in June.
In the United States, year-over-year online retail spending grew for the first half of 2010, with Americans spending $111 billion online for retail products through June, up 7% from a year earlier, according to a July report by ComScore. Online-only retailers such as Amazon.com and Netflix, as well as comparison shopping sites like NexTag and coupon sites showed growth rates that exceeded those of traditional retailers' websites, ComScore found.

HulloMail Delivers Voicemail To Facebook

With the release of version 3.0 of its Android application, voice-messaging developer HulloMail now allows users to share voicemails and instant voice messages directly on their Facebook wall from within the app. Users' friends then can hear the message in the speaker's voice by clicking on the link in Facebook, HulloMail said. This new feature is configurable, and users can turn it off or on, depending on preference.

To share a voice message on Facebook, users connect their HulloMail account with their Facebook accounts.
"Next time you get a priceless voicemail, you can share it with your Facebook wall immediately," said Andy Munarriz, founder and CEO of London-based HulloMail. "We have made it really easy to share voicemails and voice messages directly with Facebook, adding a completely new dimension to voicemail and the social networking experience. Our latest Android app is the first to have this ability; it has also been re-worked from the ground up and is now a faster and more polished experience."

With HulloMail, users can synchronize phone and email contacts, and attach voicemails to email contacts. The app automatically refreshes contacts, eliminating the need to refresh them.
The free app is available in the Android Market. HulloMail plans to next release an iPhone app with the new Facebook Share feature, according to the company. Details will be released soon, HulloMail said, although it did not provide specifics.
"You may wonder how we can offer these great features for free? We intend to generate revenue through enterprise-focus offerings and premium features, but these are works in progress," according to HulloMail's website.
Founded in 2008, HulloMail's technologies are used by more than 35 million subscribers around the globe, according to the company.
The number of smartphone users accessing mobile content through browsers and applications now surpasses that of non-smartphone users, according to an Oct. 1 study by ComScore. In August, 75.6 million mobile subscribers ages 13 and older used downloaded applications, with smartphone users accounting for 60.4%, up from 43.6% in August 2009. In that same timeframe, 80.8 million mobile subscribers used their browser, with smartphone subscribers making up 55.5%, up from 41.4% 12 months prior, ComScore said.
"Although smartphones still make up less than a quarter of the U.S. mobile market, they are generating the lion's share of mobile content consumption. With smartphones' share of the pie destined to get greater over time, marketers and content providers should begin to shift their focus towards developing with primarily these devices in mind," said Mark Donovan, ComScore senior VP of mobile.

iPhone 5 to Feature Qualcomm Chip, Verizon iPhone Seems More Probable Now

Apple’s iPhone 5, which is likely to be launched next summer, will come equipped with a Qualcomm chip, according to a new report. Meanwhile, more rumors are spreading about the possibility of a Verizon iPhone.
iPhone 5 to Feature Qualcomm Chip, Verizon iPhone Seems More Probable NowApple has utilized Infineon chipsets in all its iPhone models as well as the current iPad. But a new report from Commercial Times suggests that Apple will be dropping Infineon and using Qualcomm chips for the 5th generation iPhone. It was also reported that Apple’s work with Qualcomm on a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 resulted in choosing the company to be the sole baseband supplier for iPhone 5.
Last year Qualcomm announced a chipset which could connect to LTE, CDMA/EV-DO and GSM/UMTS wireless networks. This chip would enable Apple to make a single iPhone that could work well on virtually any network.
If the current report is true, we might be seeing a Verizon iPhone in the near future like all the rumors have been claiming. A Sprint iPhone could also be in the works. Since Verizon’s network is CDMA only, Apple needs a CDMA manufacturer like Qualcomm (who invented CDMA) if it ever hopes to make a Verizon iPhone

The Jungle, which is a clamshell device, will be coming with a super high-resolution display and features a full QWERTY keyboard. It will also be coming with what looks like a touch sensitive d-pad and button arrangement, and would run a custom form of Linux but might support Flash-based gaming.
The Jungle will also apparently sport a mini HDMI port, a micro USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Nintendo 3DS is scheduled to be launched early next year for about $300, while Apple’s fourth generation iPod touch starts at $230. The Jungle is said to compete more closely with Apple by focusing on Internet features first, instead of the dependence on physical media at Nintendo and Sony.
The device might also be coming with special features and it has to be seen how the console performs. The company has already set up a site and a few teaser videos.
In the promotional video (posted below), the company reveals plans for a bespoke Battlestar Galactica MMOG for the device, as well as a web show, Online Underground.
Meanwhile, the rumors that the console would make its way to an MTV show have been confirmed. The Jungle has shown up on Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory. Rob apparently is making a “jingle” for the device and it looks rather huge in the hands of the professional skateboarder.

Sony PSP2 release date seems set for Christmas 2011: Gaming world continues its wait!

In what is no doubt the most anticipated piece of news that could soon hit the gaming domain is the official statement on the release date of PSP2 and exactly what goodies it will come with when it does indeed hit shelves. So this latest piece of news is indeed huge as sources indicate a 2011 Christmas release for the PSP2 handheld and that seems more believable than ever before.
Sony PSP2 release date seems set for Christmas 2011: Gaming world continues its wait!
Unless Sony themselves come out and categorically deny the date (which seems unlikely) it would be safe to assume that the news doing rounds indeed is rather true. After many such earlier rumours on if indeed a PSP2 is in work, we now do know that it is surely on its way and a pre-festive season next year seems both possible and profitable!
Sony will be planning this endlessly as such a release will give them both time to fine tune PSP2 and also help elevate it further when it comes to initial sales with all the shopping hoopla surrounding festive sales. Reports also state that PSP2 will have dual camera with one in the front, making it almost certain that it will have phone features and also added will be touchscreen controls at the back.
