The HTC Rhyme

The HTC Rhyme is something of a delicate matter, as it is HTC's firstphone that is said to have been designed with a female audience in mind. Yet it comes in dull colours and looks quite a lot like every other HTC handset we’ve seen so far.

Orbital Technologies To Launch Earth’s First Commercial Space Spation

Orbital Technologies and RSC Energia ( Rocket and Space Corporate Energia ) just announced that they will launch the worlds’s First Commercial Space Station ( CSS ). We think that space tourism will be the next big thing so the station may be used by private citizens, professional crews, and corporate researchers interested in conducting their scientific programs. If everything goes according to the plan, CSS will become the world’s first commercially available human spaceflight platform.
Sergey Kostenko, the CEO of Orbital Technologies said that once the CSS is launched and operational it will provide a unique destination for commercial, state and private spaceflight explorations missions. We are very interested in working with corporate entities, state governments and private individuals from around the world.
The CSS will have a crew consisting of seven people. The CSS will be serviced by the Russian Soyuz and Progress spacecraft, as well other transportation systems available in the global marketplace. This could be realized through the stations docking system that can allow any commercial crew and cargo capability developed in the United States, Europe and China.

CDMA iPhone Coming To India, Exclusivity Agreements Ending Everywhere

a Verizon iPhone have been circulating ever since the original iPhone has been released. People believes that Steve Jobs is trying to punish Verizon for not accepting the iPhone, but according to the latest batch of rumors, Apple will introduce a CDMA iPhone in the near future thanks to Tata Teleservices and Reliance Communications.
Apparently, Apple has been negotiating with the aforementioned two Indian carriers for more than six months. If a CDMA iPhone is coming to India then a CDMA iPhone should come to the US, too. And if a CDMA iPhone comes to the US then it must come to Verizon and Sprint, but people are more attracted to the former even though the latter already has a 4G network.

Lexus Has Built The Most Realistic Driving Simulator In The World

As you already know, driving simulators are very fun, but most of them are just video games. So Lexus decided they need to build a more realistic one, and they ended building this outstanding machine that covers an area larger then a football field.
This machine is 15-ft by 20 ft and hosts a real Lexus car inside, while the inside works like a mini Omnimax theater, projecting the surrounding streets and traffic in every direction visible from inside the car. The dome is mounted on six hydraulic rams that can tilt the dome to give a feeling of movement just like any fancy flight simulator, bu the real trick is that the entire dome is mounted on rails that can move it in any direction to give a real sensation of speed. Lexus also told us that it can simulate speed up to 1860-mph.
Lexus main goal is to bring random normal drivers to test how they react under a variety of circumstances, without any risk of causing a real accident. For example, they could get someone really hammered, then test their reaction times against a sober driver. What’s cool about using a simulator is that you can run a test with several different drivers under absolutely identical conditions.

Nokia just launched the latest C5 device, a inexpensive touchscreen smartphone that brings a lot of great features, it’s simple to use but covers all of the essentials for modern-day phones.
The new device features a 3.2-inch touch display and now comes with Wi-Fi, so you can gain access to Internet without the need of a data plan. It also has support for compass and assisted GPS for use with the latest version of the free Ovi Maps hands-free navigation service, now featuring location sharing through social networks.
Just like many recent Nokia handsets you can add your contacts directly onto the homescreen so you can call, message of chat very fast. It also features a 5 megapixel camera with 4X digital zoom, without no flash. The new smartphone measures 105.8 mm x 51.0 mm x 13.8 mm ( L x W x H ) and weights 93g, that makes it similar to the C6-01 but a bit smaller than the Nokia N8 or C7. It comes with up to 40MB of user memory and support for MicroSD cards to up to 16GB. We hope to see this great phone by the end of the year at around €170 before taxes or operator subsidies.

Eye Tracker System: Solution For Falling Asleep While Driving

Falling asleep happens very often sadly. For this the Eyetracker system was invented. It is a German invention that will search for signs on driver’s face. Two cameras fallow you everywhere and they measure the pupil dilatation and the line of vision. With other words the system assures that you keep your eyes on the road.
The system is very small and easy to install. It doesn’t need any high tech devices and has the size of a matchbox. Also it can be installed in any car.
It could be used in many different applications. Think how cool would be to simple change the camera in a FPS game only by moving you eyes.

Apple’s Steve Jobs Gives New iPods To All 33 Rescued Chilean Miners

You probably heard the news about the 33 Chilean miners who were rescued from a collapsed mine after more than two months. Besides the fact that all have received $10,000 from a local businessman, Apple’s Steve Jobs said that the company will send each miner a brand new iPod.
The 33 Chilean miners are now famous around the world and lots of interesting stuff happened in Chile as one miner has become a father, and one of them will probably be slapped with a divorce as his mistress met him at the surface when he was rescued.
Chile Mine Collapse
Lots of companies are looking to market the situation of the 33 Chilean miners including a Greek company which invited them on vacation on a Greek island. Both Manchester United and Real Madrid will send tickets to UEFA Champions League matches.
Well, it’s good to be a star, but this came at a cost and I don’t know how many of you would like to be trapped for more than two months. Congrats to the rescuers and let’s hope that accidents like this will never happen.

Batman Goes Green With Solar-Powered Trike

The main purpose of designer Josh Hadar wasn’t to build just a normal electric trike, so instead he built one that even Batman dreamed to ride. This new and inventive frame it’s built entirely from carbon steel.
When Josh first started this trike, it was a little tricky to ride it: ‘The first test ride was a virtual wheelie-fest that left its rider sprawled on the ground.’ After some additional tweaking, he managed to realize what you can see in our pictures, and it runs at a maximum 45 miles per hour.
As you probably think, it’s not something you can praise, but it would be the cheapest to run. It’s electric battery is refilled back at Hadar’s studio, which has a 750-watt array of six solar panels on the roof. So what do you think about this green trike? You think that Batman should have one of these?

Netflix to offer 5.1-channel surround sound Story posted on: October 14, 2010

Netflix has made it known to the masses earlier this morning that they will deliver 5.1-channel surround sound for its Internet streaming component, otherwise known as Dolby Digital Plus. This would be be embedded in movies, delivering any supporting title additional audio depth which will literally be music to your ears. According to Netflix, they intend to have a format which would play nice with as many devices as possible. The Sony PS3 will be first in line to receive Dolby surround in Netflix, where it ought to go live this coming October 18th, which might also be the day Netflix offers disc-free support on the PS3. While other hardware should receive similar support in due time, nothing specific was listed down although we would definitely love to have Mac and Windows computers alongside the Xbox 360 make the cut

Netflix Goes Disc-free On PS3 Next Week

Sony has announced that starting Monday, October 18th, you'll be able to instantly watch Netflix movies and TV shows without inserting an instant streaming disc into your console. Aside from the elimination of the disc, a new user interface has also been introduced, bringing a much richer and faster browsing experience, and content search directly on the device, not to mention dramatic improvements on how fast playback starts. Users will also be able to instantly watch some movies and TV shows in 1080i high definition, and also enjoy Dolby 5.1 channel surround sound, not to mention viewing an increasing portion of our content library with subtitles.

Powermat looks to incorporate wireless charging

Mobile accessory manufacturer Powermat aims to go into partnership with cellphone manufacturers in order to incorporate their wireless charging technology into such mobile devices. At the moment, Powermat's base station delivers wireless charging to selected gadgets via their special cases and battery doors, but hope to make this a mainstream capability sometime in the near future. Of course, a lot of it will then depend on whether other companies are willing to partner with Powermat or not.

NextComputing unveils Vigor Evo Plus computer

You might have a hard time convincing the missus that you would want to blow your year-end bonus on NextComputing's Vigor Evo Plus computer just to get your daily fix of World of Warcraft in a much more secure manner. After all, the entire machine tips the scales at a whopping 35 pounds - now how about that? The main reason behind that? A rugged military-specced anodized external chassis, a shock-mounted internal chassis, alongside options that include a single or dual Xeon processor, the ability to hold up to 16GB of RAM, a maximum storage space of 11TB (!), up to half a dozen full-length, full-height PCI Express and PCI-X slots, as well as the ability to connect to a trio of integrated 17-inch displays. You will need to contact the company for a price quote, where the adage applies here - if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it.

FCC checks out eLocity A7 tablet

The eLocity A7 tablet has just made its way over to the FCC, where it will be yet another Android 2.2-powered tablet to hit the market in due time. What do you get with the A7? Well, how about a 7-inch WVGA capacitive touch screen at 800 x 480 resolution for starters? Not only that, video processing capability is enhanced with its NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, while other hardware specifications include 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a 1.3-megapixel camera, 1080p output thanks to an HDMI connection, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. It won't bog you down either at just 1.02 pounds in a 8.2-inch x 4.8-inch x 0.5-inch form factor. Philadelphia-based Stream TV Networks will be selling the eLocity A7, and the lack of 3G would mean less chances of it being made available via mobile carriers. The eLocity A7 can be preordered from Amazon for $370 a pop with no firm release date in sight, but soon would be a pretty good indication.

T-Mobile to out largest 4G network in the US in November 2010

Mark November on your calendar boys and girls, if you're someone who wants nothing but the superlatives in life. T-Mobile is working hard to make available the largest 4G network Stateside from next month onwards, branding their HSPA+ network as 4G. We don't really care what do you call it, as long as the speed is fast enough to qualify as a next generation version of wireless communications. For those who love to get technical, the ITU Radiocommunication Sector defines 4G as an advanced cellular system that “must have target peak data rates of up to approximately 100 Mbps for high mobility such as mobile access”. You have alternatives of "4G" at the moment, with Sprint and their WiMAX, while Verizon is nurturing their 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. With T-Mobile stating their intention to double the speeds to 42Mbps next year, you're in for a treat if you happen to live under T-Mobile's area coverage with the right hardware, of course.

With the Galaxy Tab being positioned as an on-the-go device, Samsung is working on Londoners using the tube first from October 18th till its launch on November 1st. Select users will be invited to ‘tube-test’ the Galaxy Tab for 2 days on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Interested? You can mail Samsung at galaxytab@tubetest.co.uk, and if you hate dealing with machines when it comes to service, just speak to Samsung personnel outside stations of Liverpool Street, Balham, Highbury & Islington or Ealing Broadway.

VISIONary app delivers one-click temporary root access for T-Mobile G2

While there is still no permanent root access on the T-Mobile G2 at the moment, folks who want a temporary fix can check out the VISIONary application that is the brainchild of @paulobrien, where it will enable G2 owners a far faster root workaround as currently, root access is lost each time the handset is restarted. Should you find running the application itself each time the G2 is reset a cumbersome thing to do, the second version of the app will now automatically perform its magic with each reboot.

The mouse will set you back $100 when it's released in December in conjunction with World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

Outlook with Microsoft Exchange support has also been added to the new MobileMe Calendar, though it'll be listed side-by-side with Exchange calendars instead of merging them.

Everybody is jumping on the green bandwagon nowadays and Mitsubishi Motors Corp and Yamato Transport Co Ltd will be starting a field test of an electric pickup and delivery vehicle prototyped by Mitsubishi Motors. The companies will be evaluating the practicality of the vehicle by collecting data when it's in operation and analyzing it. The electric vehicle (EV) is based on Mitsubishi Motor's Minicab Van gasoline-driving commercial light van. The motor and li-ion battery used this time will be from its i-MiEV EV. If everything goes according to plan, it's aiming at an early commercialization of the commercial electric light van.

Sony Japan Launches Digital Strategy Guides On The PlayStation Network

While it's easy to find strategy guides on the Internet, Sony wants to make things a little easier for you with the introduction of its new PlayView for Games over in Japan, which is a digital strategy guide service on the PlayStation Network today. These guides are designed for PSP games and can be purchased and downloaded onto a PS3 so that gamers will be able to play the game on their portable console while using the TV for reference. It seems a little extreme to use a large display as a guide for a small display, but then again, whatever works, right? The guide features digital pages that players can zoom in or flip through easily, not to mention that videos and background music are included too. It'll set you back around 600 Yen ($7-8). There wasn't any mention of an international edition of such guides just yet, but Sony indicated that future PlayView eBooks could include fan-created material or art collections, not just strategy guides.

Salsa Table Integrates iPads For Collaboration

While many folks complain that the rise of electronic devices might have resulted in folks talking less and less with each other at the table, there are also folks who claim that it's good for collaboration. The Salsa Table is designed to serve as a platform that brings people and ideas together by integrating four iPads into the table, encouraging people to collaborate with each together. Of course, if everybody is staring at the iPad and not talking, then it might be counterproductive, but it's all down to you...

Lesance GSN801GAW is ugly duckling on the outside, but beautiful swan on the inside

At first glance , the Lesance GSN801GAW will definitely come across as a non-looker where notebooks are concerned, and with a converted price point of €3,760, most people would be turned off by it as well. Don't judge a book by its cover though (in this case it would be do not judge a notebook by its chassis), as underneath the ugly exterior lies enough power to turn this into a desktop replacement. After all, who are we to argue with a quad core Intel Core i7 940XM Extreme Edition, 8GB RAM, a 160GB SSD (MLC) X25-M installed in RAID 0 configuration, a 500GB hard drive, with a choice between a GeForce GTX 480M with 2GB of VRAM or two Mobility Radeon HD5870 in CrossFire, a Blu-ray burner and a stunning 18.4-inch full HD monitor? Certainly not us, but make sure you can find a power outlet everywhere you go if you plan to perform some heavy duty gaming with this.

Opera to offer extensions for flagship browser

Opera Software recently announced that it will deliver support for extensions to its flagship browser, which will mimic the functionality of other popular rivals including Mozilla's Firefox and Google's Chrome. WIth Opera 11, add-on support will be created using a range of Web standards such as HTML5 and JavaScript among others, including Opera-specific APIs, or application programming interfaces. It is interesting to note that Opera 11 is the first version of the Norwegian-made browser which is capable of supporting extensions. No specific launch for the upgrade has been announced just yet, although an alpha preview is in the works and will be released "sometime soon."

Lexmark introduces Genesis upright printer

Lexmark has rolled out what could very well be the first upright printer in the world known as the Genesis. This all-in-one printer looks sleek on the outside, featuring an extremely small footprint which allows it to be displayed in just about any setting. Boasting a high-gloss black piano finish, it should attract a whole lot of fingerprints by curious onlookers. The Lexmark Genesis will also feature a 10-megapixel imaging sensor that allows one to transfer a page from “document to digital” in seconds. This means you do not have to rely on traditional flatbed scanning technology to get your work done, as the digital camera sensor within will pave the way for super quick “scans” of photos and documents. Other hardware specifications would comprise of a 4.3-inch capacitive color touchscreen display that enables access to the printer’s controls and wireless-N connectivity. Would $399 be enticing enough a price point for you to part with your cash?

MindScape expands Nabaztag family with Karotz

Remember Nabaztag the talking rabbit? Well, that interactive toy has just gotten another family member to join in, known as the Karotz. Since the Nabaztag's release, the parent company Violet has been purchased by MindScape, and we are proud to announce that the new Karotz is Wi-Fi enabled and will be powered by Linux, running on a 400MHz ARM processor, 64MB RAM and 256MB of internal storage. It will feed off batteries or can be plugged in via USB, while carrying a similar RFID reader functionality of the Nabaztag/tag. What is new would probably be a webcam built-in that supposedly offers face recognition that will work in tandem with the Nabaztag's existing voice recognition. Expect Karotz to start hopping around in France from November onwards for €150, with a UK release to follow in time for Christmas while those of us staying Stateside will have to wait until February next year.

Some Details Of The Upcoming MacBook Air Leaked

Some possible specifications of the upcoming MacBook Air have surfaced and it claims that while the ultra thin notebook will sport an updated processor, it'll still be using a Core 2 Duo processor, possibly due to the legal dispute between Intel and NVIDIA over chipset licenses. Aside from the processor, the notebook will use an upgraded GeForce 320M chip to churn out the graphics and include a longer battery life. It has been mentioned that the price will be significantly lower than the current $1,499 asking price, which will be good news to prospective buyers. There was also a whisper of an all-SSD storage range, even on the basic MacBook Air, though it remains to be seen how such a move might impact the price. With Apple's upcoming event on the horizon, it shouldn't be too long before we find out the full details, and till then, we'd suggest you take all these rumored specs with a pinch of salt

Flash 10.1 For Android Hits 1M Downloads In Android Market

The lack of Flash on iOS devices has been a sore point to many folks, but Android users don't particularly have that issue as word is out that the Android Market has served its 1 millionth Flash Player 10.1 download since its release. The 1 million mark is always a significant milestone and has certainly contributed to Android's increasing market share. Flash on Android obviously isn't perfect at the moment, as it doesn't give the full desktop experience, but it's moving along nicely.

Toyota iQ Disco car is a hoot

It seems that driving has just gotten a whole lot more interesting, especially when you decide to pull up at the local club on a Saturday night in the Toyota iQ Disco car. There is a method behind all this madness, where the shiny disco ball appearance of the car complements the professional DJ sound system within. Its outer appearance is due to a vast amount of mirror platelets that have been intricately placed all over it. It does make us wonder, what happens when you drive this around under the hot afternoon sun - will all the shiny bits actually blind other drivers? Someone leave a comment if you know the answer. As for the professional DJ sound system, it will comprise of a fully powered subwoofer/satellite speaker system alongside a 15-inch bass reflex subwoofer, 2-channel mixer and two Numark NDX 800 players, coughing out 1000 Watts of power at 130 dB. No idea on whether this will make it Stateside after it debuts in Europe

Lexmark Genesis: Fast and Wireless Web-Connected AIO Inkjet

The new Lexmark Genesis, based on last year Lexmark inkjet AIO web-connected design, features a unique "vertical design" and an innovative Flash Scan camera technology boasting a 10 megapixel sensor that delivers a super fast scanning and printing speed (I saw the demo, impressive): in a few seconds, you get a document scanned and printed.

You operate the Genesis using the 4.3 color touchscreen where you can see a document preview and launch the Lexmark's SmartSolutions: stamp.com, Box.net , scan and upload to Evernote, print your itineraries from Trip It. By clicking on the Twitter icon, you can read your feed on the screen but not print it, the Facebook app will be available next month, it will allow users to read their walls and print their pictures directly from their Facebook albums. Thanks to its Wireless-N connectivity, you can print documents from your computer or your Wi-Fi enabled phone - no more cables, yeah!
Lexmark Genesis will be available early next year for $399 in the US and Canada.

YouTube Leanback Coming To Google TV

YouTube Leanback Coming To Google TV

YouTube has officially rolled out YouTube Leanback, a layout previewed a while back that is designed for 10-foot viewing on TVs where a long viewing distance is necessary. The interface removes the comments and many other distracting visuals while making important features easily accessible. Folks who use Google TV hardware will have the option of setting devices like the Logitech Revue or Sony Internet TV to use Leanback the first time they load YouTube from the regular interface. Such a move will definitely help YouTube become commonplace in the living room. Video after the jump.

Concept: Hanging Printer

Concept: Hanging Printer

We've all been in situations where the office printer takes up too much space on our desk, affecting the way we work, not to mention being an eyesore. Perhaps manufacturers should take a cue from designers out there and come up with something like this Hanging Printer concept design. As its name implies, the printer hangs on the edge of the desk, taking up only a little real estate and leaving the majority of the bulk hanging below the table. The printed documents will still be pushed out on top of your desk, so you won't have to worry about having to bend under the table just to pick up your report. Not too shabby.

Fujitsu dual-screen touch smartphone

Fujitsu dual-screen touch smartphone

If a dual-monitor setup can improve our productivity with computers (it's pretty much proven), could it make our smartphones better too? Maybe. Fujitsu has been playing with a dual-display touch phone that aims to make your experience better because you can see more information at once. When using it vertically or horizontally, you can split your content across two screens, just like you would do with a multi-monitor PC. For photo galleries and long web pages, that's pretty convenient. Applications can also choose to use the two screens for two separate types of data, like what the Nintendo DS does. Two-player games are also an option of course. The only potential downside that we can see is that the power consumption might be much higher than on a single-display phone. At the moment, this is a concept, so don't expect to see this in stores anytime soon. Video after the jump.

New Nintendo Wii LEGO remote

Toys “R” Us in the United States are currently accepting preorders for these colorful Nintendo Wii LEGO remotes! It’s unfortunately not entirely made of LEGO blocks, but has those LEGO bumps (what are those called, by the way?) bracketing the buttons on the top face, as well as a strip of LEGO butts (not the actual name)on the yellow battery cover. 40 USD on the Toys “R” Us website, which – unfortunately – only ships within the US (and territories).
