This Is a Release of Industry’s Highest Luminous Efficiency LED Lamps by SHARP

Sharp just released 6 new compact LED type lamps, which includes a lamp that achieves industry’s highest brightness levels. The DL-JA51N E-17 features a 500 lumens and luminous efficiency of 96 lm/W. In addition to this Sharp has introduced a chandelier lamp as well as two general lamps weighing at little as 86 grams, a reduction of 50% in comparison to Sharp’s current models.These are the new addition to Sharp’s current adjustable color and dimmable models as well as globe lamps.
The new LED lamps will hit the market on August 25th, 2010. There are no suggested retail price on these lamp, but I can bit they will be pricey as most of the LED lamps are

Panasonic Official Shipment of its Waterproof VIERA Mobile Phone to NTT DOCOMO

Panasonic has officially started the shipment of its new STYLE series P-06B VIERA handset to NTT DOCOMO. The new waterproof P-068 comes with a touch screen display, where by flipping over the display unit and changing to the viewer-style would starts up a touch menu, allowing the user to operate their favorite function with a touch of a finger or stylus. This new P-06B comes with a 13.2 megapixel wide angle camera featuring quick start-up and auto focus, as well as multitude of shooting functions like “intelligent auto mode” for automatically recognizing the scene, “Egao shutter” that shoots instantly when a person smiles and “Omakase choice” for helping to select the best shot among the pictures taken through continuous shooting.
The new P-06B also includes functions like “handwriting diary” and “handwriting & memo” functions, allowing users to hand write schedules and decorate pictures with tools such as marker pens and stamps. The main display on this handset is full wide VGA, 3.1 inch TFT LCD (262, 144-color). The handset comes in a firm factor of 114 x51 x 18.9 mm (max. 21 mm), and it weighs 150 grams.

SHARP Unveils two new Models of AQUOS Blu-ray Disc recorders spporting New BDXL format

Sharp new AQUOS blu-ray recorders are industry first recorders supporting the new BDXL format for multi-layer recordable blu-ray discs, with the aim in expanding recordable storage capacity available on a single disc. The new BDXL format extends the allowable dual-layer format storage capacity of up to 50GB, to triple-layer discs at 100GB as well as quadruple-layer discs at 128GB.
The disc drive by the way was developed by Pioneer Digital Design and Manufacturing Corporation, which is a joint venture of Sharp and Pioneer, focusing on the optical disc business.

Development of New XMDF format as a Next Generation Digital Platform for E-Book by Sharp

Sharp Corporation made an announcement on development of a next generation e-book format offering advance features for video and audio content in addition to existing features such as texts and still images. Through the development of this core technology, Sharp would be able to provide a digital platform in promoting e-book distribution services as well as launching of compatible reader products for its entry into e-book market.
This next generation XMDF as company refers to it, allows automatic adjustment of layout to match and meet publisher’s needs. The XMDF allow users to browse the same content on multiple terminals including smart phones, PCs and TV, while streamlining publisher’s e-book contents production.

PANASONIC Unveils Industry’s First Interchangeable 3D Lens

Panasonic has launched the world’s first interchangeable 3D lens designed for company’s LUMIX G Micro system, allowing its users to experience high quality 3D shooting, while enjoying viewing the result on a 3D VIERA television set. The 2010 marking the first year of 3D era due to availability of 3D contents, made Panasonic to pioneer the industry by introduction of 3D capable VIERA TV as well as 3D Blu-ray disc Players. However development of the new lens was a response to individual demand wanting to enjoy 3D shooting.
Contrary to the currently available 3D-capable interchangeable lens system where panorama systems or combination of two lenses and CCDs were used, the new Panasonic 3D lens features two optical systems which have been installed within the diameter of the lens mount, creating stereo images both from left and right lenses to be processed with a 3D image processing system. Panasonic is planning the release of this new lens before end of this year.

Release of Raku-Raku Phone 7, tailored to the needs of Senior Citizens

In a close to saturated Japan mobile hand set market, one of the foreseeable avenues to increase their sales is targeting the under reached golden age population of Japan, which increasing at a great rate. The idea was first started by subsidiary of KDDI, called TuKa by designing easy to operate mobile phones, mimicking the simple functionality and look of some of the commercially available land-line phones. This was all before the manufacturer lost touch with reality of things and start manufacturing mobile phone with tones of functionality that very few people were attuned to use or ever use. TuKa phones had simple functions, featuring large buttons which made it easy for elderly to operate, mainly used for calling your loved ones, no fancy stuff.
Well, it appears that market feels our golden age population over this short period of has miraculously became internet savvy, or is this some sort of government big plane to bring the whole country to the internet revolution, it remains to be seen. Well, to embark up on this market opportunity, Fujitsu made and announcement couple of days ago on release of its new Raku-Raku Phone 7. Raku-Raku which by the way means is easy to use in Japanese is designed to make internet more accessible to seniors by featuring a one-touch access button which connects the individual to i-mode mobile internet systems. But this is not all; the users can have access to specially tailored free services on travel and gourmet offered through a special website called “Raku-Raku Japan Report”. Well, I hope they don’t have to pay for packet charges which could get a bit pricy. The special service is jointly offered with ISP Nifty. The first Raku-Raku by Fujitsu hit the market in September of 2001 selling over a 17.8 million units as of June 30, 2010 as popular phone set not only for seniors but for all other individual that use their mobile phone for phone calls and e-mail. The new phone 7 features a 8.1 megapixel resolution camera, with smile detector, automatic scene recognition, high sensitivity mode recognition equivalent to ISO 12800, finger-in-frame alarm which lets the individual to know that he/she is obscuring the lens by notifying the user by displaying an alert message on the screen, plus a tracking focus for capturing objects in motion suited for taking photos of children and pets. The phone 7 also comes with GSM for international roaming, advance human-sensing applications. Among the easy to use functionality, the new Raku-Raku phone7 features a clamshell design which can be easily opened with a touch of a button when it is ringing while automatically answering it. It also comes with voice input activation helping the user on learning how to use the phone through search functions that are divided into categories such as “contents”, “search” and “keywords”. The phone also comes with a “speak and search” function, allowing users to utter simple commands into the phone for conducting various searches. The phone comes with other features such as ETGA Swing Lesson, a golf swing movements adviser application that was introduced into Fujitsu’s mobile phone last year, as well as iBodymo, and area Mail to name a few. The new phone is in compliant with IPX5/IPX7/IPX8, which translates to being dust proof and water proof. The new phone7 will go on sale today through NTT DOCOMO.

Development of Robotized Home Environment to Help Individuals with Disabilities by AIST

Currently available disability aids equipment has been developed based on a customized functionality in order to accommodate the condition of each individual’s type of disability. This has resulted in high equipment cost, preventing its wide spread use and preventing improvement in quality of life for individual in needs of such equipment. However, through advancement in network technology where ordinary integrated devices with modularized functionality can be interconnected in a built-in network, has helped manufacturers to develop new products with shorter development cycle and reduced cost, paving the way in development of customized disability aids equipment for each individual at an affordable prices. Based on this concept group of researchers at AIST (Advanced Industrial Science and Technology) have developed a human interface technologies comprising of a gesture input device and a speech input device. The gesture input device is responsible for detecting the movement of person through a stereo camera, where it calculates the changing shape of the person three dimensionally at high speed and has the advanced function in identifying gestures in a non-contact, non-constraint manner, allowing the individuals to control the equipment by simply moving hand, shoulder, or head.
Through modification of the software, the gesture input device can be adjusted to match the changes in the movement of a person with a progressive illness. The other piece of equipment in this system is a speech recognition device capable of recognizing unclear speech as a tool in controlling home equipment, as well as bearing a capability of working with other input devices. Additionally, the system comes with active caster with a built-in motor, as an output device in assisting individuals, where the object to be moved can be simply maneuvered by the casters attached to it. Based on weight and size of the objects, more than one caster may have to be attached. The caster may not have to be attached to each position since the position is automatically calculated and the object can be maneuvered remotely. To make it all work together the system comes with a RT middleware, making it possible to customize the system for each individual need. With distribution of various aids equipment throughout home in a network, the home environment can be considered as one system disability aids, with functionally distributed across a room. Based on this system AIST has developed three type of home environment models; a home equipment control assist system helping people with mobility impairment, cooking assist system designed to help individual with brain dysfunction due to stroke with their cooking training, and an environment management system to detect changes in the home environment helping people with visual impairment

Development of New Technology Designed to Prevent Vehicles Potential Rear End Collision by NISSAN

This may come as a welcoming news for major automobile insurers, helping to reduce number of fender benders and back lashes type of claims as a start. Well, according to Nissan announcement, the company has developed a new technology which Nissan calls it “Forward Collision Avoidance Assist”, a technology that has been developed to address both potential rear end collision one being in helping the driver to avoid hitting the vehicle immediately ahead of it in the lane as well as helping to reduce the potential risk of sudden braking, causing the vehicle to be rear-ended by the vehicle approaching form behind. The new system is capable of avoiding possible collision at forward speeds of approximately 60kph, the highest among the forward collision avoidance systems.
The system uses a highly sensitive radar sensor for monitoring the distance from the front vehicle and its relative speed. In an event that deceleration is required, the system alerts the driver using both a screen display as well as sound, and afterward the system will generate a force that pushes the accelerator pedal up while smoothly applies partial breaking to assists the driver in slowing down the vehicle. In an event where, a possibility of a collision is high, the system will automatically apply harder braking and tighten the driver’s seat belt. The new development is part of Nissan
“Safety Shield” concept.
