Earlier today we spoke about the fact that Taiwanese suppliers are testing components for the next-gen iPad which is going to become available sometime in Q1 2011. We’re back with a new set of rumors that don’t bring something fresh. A 7-inch iPad has been rumored for a very long time and it wouldn’t be surprising at all.
Anyway, according to analyst Ashok Kumar from Rodman & Renshaw, Apple’s 7-inch iPad release date is 2011 so that the company can compete against the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab and other tablet makers who opted for small-sized screens.
The good thing about the 2nd-gen iPad is that the tablet will feature two cameras, one in the front and one in the back. FaceTime was really successful in the iPhone 4 and Apple intends to put a front-facing camera on each future product that has a screen bigger than 3.5-inch.
The analyst confirms that the tablet infusion on the market will force Apple to release a new tablet less than one year after the launch of the original iPad. So Apple feels threatened by the competition? This is a little odd but we’ll need more than rumors to confirm this so stay tuned cause we’ll keep you updated.
