Admittedly the source of the report, Digitimes, as credited below, has been wrong about a fair few things in the past but they’ve also been right and so whether their report rings true remains, at this juncture, to be seen. That said, being that hype concerning the much reported and speculated upon Apple Table is at fever pitch (something that shows no signs of abating – but them this is a particularly exciting prospect) we thought we’d offer you want Digitimes are reporting.
According to them the 10.6” (so that’s now down by 0.1” in screen size from what we’d heard previously – it’ll end up a new Gen Touch at this rate) is ‘expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2010, with initial shipments from Foxconn being in the 300,000-400,000 range’.
The report continues, ‘The sources indicated they believe the tablet PC features will focus more on e-book functionality rather than music, and that based on Apple’s marketing strategy, long battery life, quick Internet connectivity and an easy-to-use user interface will be key features of the device.’
Okay, so there’s not a great deal to go on here, but that doesn’t make it any less interesting and, further to the above, its also noted that HP are looking to get in on the action by releasing a device that would compete directly with the presumed Apple Tablet sometime during Q2 2010.
If there’s any more gossip, we’ll bring it to you.
