Teeny Tiny Mobile Makes It To UK Shores

Smaller is better. Or so think the creators of Modu, which is the world’s lightest phone and has just become available in the UK.
We first saw the Modu earlier this year at Mobile World Congress and were impressed by it’s miniscule footprint. It really is the size of a gnat’s hand and to avoid the obvious problems with handling such a tiny device, the manufacturer has included a range of “jackets” which the device can slot into.
This modular system is unique in the mobile world and not only does it transform the phone, it can also bolster its functionality.
As a handset in its own right, the Modu allows you to make phone calls, send texts and play music from it’s 2GB, non-expandable on-board storage. Additional jackets however can add things like 3.2 mega pixel camera, a pedometer and a fairly large digital photoframe.
The Modu 1 retails for around £130 while the jackets at £50 each or not cheap, however knowing people’s obsession with tiny things, these will fly off the shelves. Hold tight for the Modu 2 later this summer, which is a touchscreen variant of the original. Check out the below video for a run-through of some of the jackets available:
