Google offers online video editing tool

YouTube Video Editor aimed at consumers and social media firms

Google has launched a simplified online video editing tool that could win favour among companies looking to boost their position on the social web.
The YouTube Video Editor removes many of the barriers to using online media, according to Google, allowing users to add a soundtrack and merge multiple clips without investing in editing technology.
Companies that struggle with compiling media from a range of sources may also appreciate the tool's system-agnostic approach.
"Create new videos without worrying about file formats and publish them to YouTube with one click. No upload necessary," said Rushabh Doshi, asoftware engineer at Google.
"With software installations and complicated instructions, editing video can be a hassle. But we think it should be easy. Today, we're introducing YouTube's new online video editor, which makes editing your video a cinch."
