iPhone 4S/5 Case Leak Shows New Design Changes Ahead of Launch

We’ve seen a couple of new iPhone 4S/5 cases yesterday, which suggested certain design modifications for the upcoming Apple smartphone and today we have one more case leak (available after the break) that seems to back up some of those changes.

The image below is apparently very similar to one of the images we showed you yesterday and it doesn’t only suggest the fact that the next-gen iPhone will have a curvy, yet flat design, similar to the iPad 2’s back, but also that Apple is going to move that mute switch from the left side to the right as suggested by the case opening near the iPhone’s camera placement. The volume keys appear to remain on the same left side, which makes us wonder why would Apple change the location of the mute button. Does it have anything to do with the change in shape and size of the iPhone, especially the internal components of the device?
Today’s leak comes via 9to5mac and we’re looking at an actual case that was created based on iPhone 4S/5 design info. The case suggests that the next-gen smartphone will be thinner and lighter than the iPhone 4, which are features we’ve encountered a bunch of times in previous rumors. What this case can’t tell us yet is whether the display of the new iPhone will be indeed larger than the iPhone 4’s (at either 3.7-inch or 4-inch) and whether the Home button will also be somewhat bigger in order to support gesture-based interactions, as suggested by yesterday’s designs.
Earlier today we heard the iPhone 4S/5 is going to be launched in the second week of September, although that’s also a rumor that can’t be verified at this point. Therefore we’ll be back with more iPhone 4S/5 leaks and rumors in the following days, since, with more than a month to go until Apple announces its new flagship smartphone, we’re certain we’re going to get even more updates on the device. In the mean time let us know what’s the killer feature you’re expecting for the fifth-generation iPhone!
