Sony Brings Out Extensive Lineup Of New Digital Photo Frames

Quite a week for the crew out at Sony so far, with word about a new digital camera coming out just two days ago, and now we’ve got word about a lineup of new digital photo frames. We’re talking about the Sony DPF-HD1000, the Sony DPF-HD800, and the Sony DPF-C series, a set of new frames offering places to store all those photos you take.

We don’t often think about digital photo frames in the normal lineup of gadgetry, but they’re great places to show off your digital photos. Not only do they look good, they also hold a good sized number of pictures, and even give you extra options to show them off. That’s exactly the case with these three.
All three frames will give you support for a variety of audio formats, letting you play music in the background while your pictures get shown off. You’ll get support for SD and SDHC memory cards, as well as Memory Stick Pro Duo memory cards.
The key differences are actually rather clear from the outset. The Sony HD1000 and Sony HD800 models will offer high-definition playback of video as well as images. The HD1000 offers up a 1026 x 600 resolution on a 10.1 inch screen with two gigs of onboard memory, while the HD800 is slightly smaller, with an 800 x 480 resolution on an eight inch screen, but also with the extra two gigs. The HD1000 will sell at $169.99, while the HD800 will sell at $139.99. A seven inch model, almost identical to the HD800, called the HD700 will also arrive, and it will sell at $119.99.
Meanwhile, the Sony DPF-C series will offer up a small lineup in its own right, with five different models coming into play. These will be the entry-level models, with simpler overall designs and fewer features, but are still set to include the memory card support as well as a variety of differentscreen sizes. Pricing on these are as yet unmentioned, but the whole series is set to hit this September, so if you’re in the market, you’ll be able to find these pretty soon.
So what do you guys think about this lineup? Think any of these could find a place on your desk or your mantle? Whatever you happen to think about them, we definitely want to hear about it, so head on down to the comments section and let us know what you think!
