Release of a New Portable terminal for Electronic Money Payment by NEC

Use of electronic money in Japan is one the rise and needs for payment devices is increasing. Based on this NEC has introduced a new portable terminal for electronic payment, the “Multi-Service Terminal ® /Portable” assisting retailers to conveniently expand their business through availability of electronic money payment.
Supporting broad range of electronic money and credit card payment methods including the NFC international standard for next generation contactless IC cards, the new terminal is equipped with NFC reader/writer, supporting all 3 standards, enabling it to support both international electronic money, such as MasterCard ® PayPass™ and Visa payWave, as well as existing Felica service, Japan’s mainstream contactless IC card communication standard. Shipment of the new terminal is scheduled to commence in July 2011.
