HTC Tablet to Launch Early Next year; Likely to Run Android 3.0

HTC’s rumored Android powered tablet might be coming in the first quarter of 2011, according to a new report. The latest information was supplied by Taiwan-based component makers which resulted in an article posted in the Digitimes. It was reported that HTC’s planned tablet PC might be coming equipped with Android 3.0 in early 2011.
This news has come at a time when other companies are scheduled to soon introduce their tablets, most of which will be Android-enabled models. All these competition may have resulted in these new plans from HTC. The company was heavily involved in tablet-like products years ago through devices, like the Shift, which failed to catch any attention.
Though there were no other details available on the tablet, it was reported that HTC will be taking advantage of its strong ties with Google and mobile telecom carriers around the world for promoting the tablet. This implies that the tablet will have 3G.
Use of Google’s new mobile OS is more likely, as tablets from other companies arriving at the same time have all been rumored to carry the new version as well. It should be the first operating system with tablet optimizations. The current version of Android isn’t really optimized for tablet experiences.
Earlier this year, HTC South Africa executive Quinton Leigh had hinted that the tablet might have 1080p video recording and 5.1-channel surround sound
