The Nintendo 3DS has been announced earlier this year however the company was forced to do that because some secret documents got into the hands of evil-doers. Nintendo delayed the announcement of the release date and we will hear more on September 29th, but we do know that this mobile gaming device will become available before April 2011. Anyway, until then IGN got their hands on the official Nintendo 3DS specs and you should be prepared to be amazed.
The Nintendo 3DS packs 2 x 266MHz ARM11 CPU, an extra 133MHz GPU, 64MB RAM, 4MB of dedicated VRAM, 1.5GB built-in storage space, and SD card support. That’s some pretty impressive processing power you got there, Nintendo 3DS!
The good thing is that the Nintendo 3DS has two rather powerful processors and a GPU which is developed by Digital Media Productions. The weird thing is that the Pica200 GPU supports speeds of up to 200 MHz, while the specs showed that the GPU is clocked at 133MHz. So could have Nintendo underclocked the GPU for battery life purposes?
