Opera to offer extensions for flagship browser

Opera Software recently announced that it will deliver support for extensions to its flagship browser, which will mimic the functionality of other popular rivals including Mozilla's Firefox and Google's Chrome. WIth Opera 11, add-on support will be created using a range of Web standards such as HTML5 and JavaScript among others, including Opera-specific APIs, or application programming interfaces. It is interesting to note that Opera 11 is the first version of the Norwegian-made browser which is capable of supporting extensions. No specific launch for the upgrade has been announced just yet, although an alpha preview is in the works and will be released "sometime soon."
