f8 2011: Facebook Reaches 800 Million Active Users According To Zuckerberg Look-Alike

FACEBOOK just keeps growing and growing and it seems as if nothing can stop it. Even in the face of growing competition from the likes of Google+, Facebook is still seeing unprecedented growth, even up to recently. The announcement that Facebook has reached and exceeded 800 million active users, interestingly coming from Zuckerberg’s Saturday Night Live look-alike Adam Samberg, indicates an additional 50 million users in just under 75 days!
Notice that this absolutely astronomical number is not only users, but ACTIVE users. This means that Facebook has over 800 million users who have logged in to Facebook at least once in the past 30 days. This announcement comes only days after a good number of changes in an overhaul of the social networking service. Indeed, Facebook has been up to a lot recently:
  • Higher resolution pictures
  • Reworked news feed
  • Introduction of the ticker
  • Smart friend lists
  • Ability of users to subscribe to your public posts whether or not they are friends
Past networking sites have lost popularity just as quickly as they had won it but nothing seems to indicate that Facebook is going anywhere anytime soon.
