Google+ Surpasses 43 Million Users According To Paul Allen

The social networking war is on! Facebook’s been in the news with a plethora of changes overhauling the site and hitting a landmark active user count of 800 million. Google+ isn’t just sitting down watching the social networking world go by. They just recently enacted their 91 improvements in 90 days and have opened the beta up to the public with no more invites needed. Coming on the heels of all that comes the announcement from Paul Allen that he estimates Google Plus has hit the 43 million user mark.
Paul Allen has developed an algorithm that he uses to estimate how many Google+ users there really are. In the past he’s done pretty good with his educated guesses in the past:
  • July 4th – 1.7 million users
  • July 9th – 4.5 million users
  • July 12 – 10 million users
  • September 9th – 28.7 million users
  • September 22nd – 43.4 million users
It would be good to note that for this latest number he tweaked the algorithm a bit to make it more accurate. He now includes non-Roman surnames and private accounts. Before this adjustment the estimate was 37.8 million. Still, any way you look at it, the brand new social network has just seen a 30% rise in just 2 days (since they opened the beta to the general public). These are unofficial numbers but you’ve got to admit they’re still impressive.
