Asus Readying Four New Laptops, All Feature Sandy Bridge

It’s not every day that  a company looks to drop fully four new laptops in one product launch, so it definitely caught my attention that Asus was looking to do exactly that. The best part is, they’re all planning to boast the new line of Sandy Bridge processors, which is going to lend some serious muscle to their bottom lines.
The company that actually had to tell us how to say its name released some heavy information not long ago, describing how it was looking to bring out a slate of four new laptops all carrying the potent new processors.
First out of the gate is the big sluggers from Asus, the G53SW and G73SW. The G73SW packs a Core i7-2630QM processor, eight gigs of DDR3 RAM, a 17.3 inch display showing at 1920 x 1080 resolution, and a pair of 500 gig Seagate Momentus XT drives. Plus, you’ll get Wi-Fi connectivity, a USB 3.0 port (huge for those of you who love transferring massive files), Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M graphics and a Blu-ray drive. The G53SW, meanwhile, only has one drive (but it’ll go up to one terabyte, so not too much difference) and a 15.6 inch monitor, but aside from that, is mostly the same as the slightly larger model. These start at $1299, and go up to as much as $2714 from there.
The other two are the slightly toned down N53SV and N73SV, packing a 2.0GHz quadcore processor, and your choice of 15.6 and 17.3 inch displays respectively. Also, you’ll get Nvidia GeForce GT540M graphics, four gigs of DDR3 RAM, HDMI and again a USB 3.0, and–and here’s a nice surprise!–audio courtesy of Bang and Olufsen. Pricing here, meanwhile, starts out at $1197, which really isn’t that bad for a good high-powered laptop
, and these definitely seem to have the kind of power that would rate higher price tags.
