LG Plans To Show Line Of Mobile TV Models in 2011

LG is reportedly looking to toss its hat into that much, much thinner arena with a new line of mobile televisions.  so the word goes.
Considering we just got off a story yesterday in which LG showed off its massive new LED television, it’s a little bit odd to watch them go down to the level of “television you can carry around in your hand”, but hey…nothing like a little innovation to keep everybody interested.
Now, you’re probably wondering about what I said above: why would LG be getting into a market where one of the biggest players therein just got its lunch eaten despite the fact that it had support from a pretty well-received television show? As it turns out, LG’s looking to offer a little more than just mobile television: first, they’re looking to offer it with NRT (non real time) technology that will allow it to receive a signal while moving as fast as 200 kilometers (just a tick over 124 miles) per hour. Second–and this is the big one–they’re looking to offer it in 3D. Yes, you’ll be able to watch television, in 3D, on a small mobile screen.
Thing is, we don’t know much more than this yet. And that makes some sense as they’re planning to show this out at the 2o11 CES show in just a few days. But huge questions are outstanding here–pricing and launch dates are the big ones, but what kind of content will this get? Will we be talking about basic cable-level stuff here or is this just strictly over the air? Are the 3D glasses active or passive–or will we even need them?
