The Sony Ericsson LiveView mini display hit the FCC today, complete with internal photos of the device. It’s quite impressive to see how Sony Ericsson packed a 1.3” OLED screen, Bluetooth and a rechargeable battery into a device that weighs only 15 grams.
The picture, above left, shows the LiveView’s mainboard. Unfortunately, the device’s components are so small we can’t identify any manufacturer logos, much less part numbers, on the chips.
To the right you can see the LiveView’s tiny rechargeable battery. It will be interesting to see how long the LiveView can last on a single charge. We’re hoping that the device will last a couple days on a charge – we’re not really keen on frequently removing our watch for charging.

Sony Ericsson unveiled its LiveView Android mini-display late last month, and today the device made its first appearance on the FCC. If you’re not familiar with the LiveView, take a look at Sony Ericsson’s LiveView site here. The LiveView connects to your Android phone via Bluetooth, and displays alerts, updates and info on its 1.3” color OLED screen.
To use the device, you’ll need to install Sony Ericsson’s LiveView Android app on your phone. The LiveView App allows users to enter Facebook and Twitter information, and tweak the device’s settings.
The LiveView can be used as a mini display, or connected to an included wrist strap and used as a watch. The device measures only 11mm x 35mm x 35mm and weighs 15 grams, so although it’s not tiny, it can definitely won’t seem out of place on your wrist.
The LiveView is scheduled for a Q4 2010 release, and today’s FCC filing shows that Sony Ericsson is on target for a release soon. We don’t have any info on pricing at this point, but we’ll keep you updated as we learn more
