Motorola Droid 2 World Edition to Run Faster Thanks to a 1.2GHz Processor

Motorola Droid 2 World Edition is the upgraded Droid 2 we’ve been all expected. I know it sounds like a cliche, but it’s true.

What we know so far is that Verizon is gearing up to debut the Droid 2 World Edition with support for CDMA and GSM networks, but a recent rumor mentions an upgraded processor, too. According to some leaked benchmarks it looks like the Droid 2 World Edition will pack a 1.2GHz chip instead of the stock 1GHz TI OMAP3620 CPU on the Droid 2.
For now we can’t confirm if this is just an overclocking job or if Texas Instruments are trying to stall time until their dual-core OMAP4 processor debuts next year — releasing an upgraded OMAP3 instead (to keep up with competition), which by the way, are great overclockers. So better don’t get your hopes too high and take this with a pinch of salt until Big Red confirms all these things.
Motorola Droid 2 World Edition is slated for a release on Verizon sometime in late September. We’ll have to see if Big Red will be able to hit the target date or if it will be delayed a few more weeks …
