I suppose that you don’t know, so let me tell you that Verizon Wireless likes applications so much that they created their own application store, called V CAST Apps. If you have an Android phone on Verizon you probably noticed a V CAST Apps tab under the official Android Market, but rumors say that the new V CAST will have its own app store. Find out that first opened submissions for Android applications into their V CAST App Store on September 1st. Each application will pass through some tests, evaluations and an approval process, unlike the official Android Market where applications can be uploaded without any kind of tests.
Until now we do not have any information on the launch window for the application store, but on September 21-22 Verizon set the meeting with their developers, so more details will emerge soon. Unfortunately, some while after the launch, V CAST App Store will be available only on Verizon devices running Android 2.2. From this category we can include the Incredible, Droid 1, Droid 2, and Droid X. Until now 2.2 version will be set as standard, but in the near future we will probably see other versions of the Android OS.
The big question is why should Google welcome a competing app store to the official Android Market? As you probably noticed, Google has been trying to keep us away from Android fragmentation, but from what we know so far, it seems that V CAST Apps will play an important role in the official Android Market.
