While the USA is being treated with the best Android smartphones out there: HTC EVO 4G, HTC Incredible, Motorola Droid X or Motorola Droid 2, the same thing doesn’t go for Europe, or other regions of the world. Sure all the devices mentioned above are CDMA-only phones, but so was the original Droid which was then, sent to Europe and other markets.
So what if Motorola decided to make the Droid X and Droid 2 available to non-U.S. customers available by the end of the year? That would definitely be a great move from Motorola from two points of view. First of all HTC is not even rumored to bring the HTC EVO 4G or the Incredible to other markets, so Motorola would get an important edge on HTC, but, most importantly, the Droid X could fight against the iPhone 4 in Europe, and other continents, too.
We have no confirmation on the matter yet, but it looks like both the Droid X and Droid 2 are coming to Europe by the end of the year. What are they going to be called? Possible the Milestone X and the Milestone 2 considering that their predecessor, the Droid was named the Milestone in every other market. The Droid branding is something that only Verizon does, and I don’t think Motorola will use it in other countries for any of its current and future countries.
When will they arrive? Rumor says Droid X is landing in November or December and the Droid 2 is coming thereafter. That’s the arrival schedule in France, but we can safely assume that most European markets will also get these two smartphones once that happens.
Stick around, as we’ll definitely confirm these devices for you as soon as Motorola makes an official announcement. Until then some of the hottest Android smartphones money can buy in Europe will still be the Motorola Milestone, HTC Desire, Google Nexus One (where available), Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and the Samsung Galaxy S.
So what do you say, European Android fans? Looking forward for this holiday season already?
