The BBC and NHK realized a live trial broadcast of the band The Charlatans from the U.K. to Tokyo with Super Hi-Vision. Yes you’re eyes not fooling you, it’s Super Hi-Vision.
This high tech was developed by the broadcaster NHK and is capable of displaying an astonishing 7,680 x 4,320 pixels, offering 16 times the pixels over what is currently considered full HD at 1080p.
As it has not been done before, the Super Hi-Vision broadcast was transmitted at 24Gb/s over a high-speed Internet connection
Unfortunately, at least for now you won’t find on the current market a TV that can support such a high resolution, and you also need a very high speed Internet connection. The Japanese public broadcaster hopes to launch Super Hi-Vision by the Olympics being held in 2012.
