Garmin-Asus hopes to launch 1 or 2 Android-based handsets on the Taiwan market before the end of 2010. Their main purpose is to accomplish the same success as with the launch of A10 in September. Unfortunately, until the first quarter of 2011, they will not launch smartphones based on Windows Phone 7.
By allying with Chunghwa Telecom, sales of A10 devices totaled 3,500 units in September and are expected to top 3,000 units in October. The team will also bring the A10 in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Indonesia and Eastern Europe. Another interesting plan, alto brought by Garmin-Asus, is to launch a new version of A10 that’s integrated with an EasyCard from Taipei Smart Card Corporation, allowing users to pay public transport fares, as well as shopping at certain store. Garmin-Asus will launch the A50 smartphone into Asia markets very soon.
