Introducing the Bluetooth Low Energy Equipped Wrist Watch by Casio

Casio Computer has introduced a new Bluetooth Low energy equipped wrist watch capable of communicating with Smart phones through its short-range communication technology.
The Bluetooth Low Energy is a Bluetooth Core Specification Version 4.0 standard, allowing the wrist watch to communicate with smart phone equipped Bluetooth Low Energy Wireless Technology, which will be available in a near future, capable of connecting to networks of various kinds of devices. The watch is powered by its usual button-cell battery with a same battery life. Current capability of the new prototyped watch is limited to synchronizing with Smart phone time information ensuring correct time, as well as providing user with alert signal for incoming call notification and e-mail messages sent to user’s smart phone.
Furthermore, smart phone’s ring alerts and vibration can be stopped by tapping the watch, as well as activating alarm and vibration functions of a smart phone using watch button. Casio is planning to release its Bluetooth Low Energy Watch in 2011, while calling partner companies to develop applications compatible with smart phones and other household devices in such areas as sports, health, home entertainment, security and communication with family members and friends
