iPhone 5 to be ‘Completely Redesigned’

Our attention has been turned away from the iPad 2 for a change as details are starting to emerge on what the iPhone 5 may be sporting. Engadget has quoted “extremely accurate” sources in saying that the new iPhone will come with a more powerful CPU and a complete redesign.
Since iPhone 5 rumours began, it has been reported that the smartphone would hit the market with a brand new look, which involved more than just the antenna being put in a different place. Although “a total rethink from a design standpoint” doesn’t tell us much about what to expect appearance wise, what will be going on inside is a lot more interesting.
Always one’s to be up-to-date with the latest mobile tech, Apple is said to be kitting the iPhone 5 out with a multi-core A5 CPU, an ARM Cortex 9 chipset, coupled with a PowerVR SGX543 graphics card which will bring more power to the device as well as an improved battery life. Apple is also reported to be thinking of moving from using Inifineon chipsets for the GSM radio (these connect your handset to your mobile network) to Qualcomm which more than likely has something to do with the connectivity problems the iPhone 4 faced at launch. It’s also thought the handset will come with an NFC chip.
Engadget’s sources confirmed that the iPhone 5 would be launched in the summer. Once the iPad 2 is out in the open, we expect to hear a lot more about the new iPhone.
