If I recall, before the Motorola Droid X came out, they called it the “most fastest Android phone” or something. Don’t mind the fact that moniker is applied to every new Android phone. Well, regardless, the powerful Droid X is getting a bit more powerful before it makes the trip to China. Motorola will begin selling the phone in China as the Motorola ME811 and the new factory default clockspeed is 1.2Ghz, up from the 1Ghz
The Motorola Droid X was released in American (and Mexico – as the Motoroi X) with a clockspeed of 1Ghz on its TI OMAP 3630 processor. But, like so many Android devices, the modding community rooted the phone and pushed the clockspeed up to 1.2Ghz (and likely higher) and found that it’s stable. The phone is shipping to China with the same processor, and it seems that Motorola has recognized that the phone is stable at that clockspeed. In addition to the new processor, from the press images it looks like Motorola is giving the phone their regular MOTOBLUR user interface. The American Droid X came with another UI (dubbed ShadowBlur by some) that is different from the regular Android-Motorola MOTOBLUR.
Quentyn Kennemer over at Phandroid writes that he wants to see Motorola and Verizon patch the higher clockspeed into the American Dx phones. I doubt we’ll see something of that nature, to be honest, but as a personal Droid X owner myself, it’d be nice.
In case you haven’t heard of the Droid X, it’s a pretty nice Android device. It has a bad rep amongst some in the Android fanbase – I don’t know why. I reviewed the phone for this site before it came out and also have used it as my personal phone for a while and I really like it. The Motorola Droid 2 Global may have it beat in sheer horsepower but I like the big screen
