TAMRON Introduces the World’s Most Compact and Light Weight 15x Zoom Lens

Tamron announced the release of 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD (Piezo Drive), the world’s most smallest and lightest 15x zoom ratio lens, featuring a 62mm filter diameter, VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization and company’s first standing wave ultrasonic motor system for SLR lenses, plus a Piezo Drive (PZD).The new lens (model B008) measures only 88mm in length and it weighs only 450 gram. The new PZD offers the user silent, high-speed auto focus, with minimum focusing distance of 0.49m throughout the zoom range and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.8.
The new lens which will fit into Canon and Nikon cameras will hit the Japanese market on December 20, 2010, with the development of a Sony’s compatible mount at a later date.
