Korea To Show 3DTV On Broadcast TV [First Country With 3D HDTVs Also Getting First Broadcast 3DTV] Read: Korea To Show 3DTV On Broadcast TV [First Country With 3D HDTVs Also Getting First Broadcast 3DTV]

South Korea was the first nation to sell commercially available 3D HDTVs – and now, they’ll be the first to broadcast 3D TV over the airwaves to the home. The Korean Communications Commission (KCC) is announcing that Korea will begin testing 3D Broadcast TV in a few weeks.

AkihabaraNews is reporting that while England and Japan have already tested 3D TV, they were doing so over paid networks like cable or satellite. Korea will be the first to test broadcast 3D TV.
These will only be tests at this point, but the KCC promises that if everything goes well, the KCC will begin issuing licenses for broadcast 3D TV by January. All four Korean broadcast networks KBS, MBC, SBS and EBS will take part in the trials. As part of these broadcast trials, the Colorful Daegu Pre-Championships Meeting (track and field) will be shown on KBS and SBS will show 25 World Cup games in 3D. Not bad for soccer fans.
Right now, although a slew of 3D TVs are out across the world, content is the main problem as a very limited amount of 3D content is out there. Korean cable channel CJ Hello Vision is planning to begin offering 3D content on their cable VOD (video on demand) service within the next two weeks.
Are you excited for 3D yet? Will you get a 3D TV? Are you more concerned over 3D TV or the Twitter Bug?
